Question: why do republicans like Coolidge even though he was president just before the crash?

( Back )

Answer #1:

Quite simple, the role of president was essentially nonexistent until after FDR which set a precedent for an aggressive presidential role which was unseen before hand.

I even forget the pre 1930 president and the quote which goes on about how limited the role was.

Answer #2:

I like his name.

If he ran today his campaign slogan could be, " Calvin's got the Cool-age"

Answer #3:

You mean socialist hoover and communist fdr?

This round socialism is going to lead to currency collapse.

Answer #4:

It crashed under Hoover and doubled under FDR. Coolidge has the lowest unemployment avg of any president, big gains in gdp, didnt add debt. I dont see how you can say he was bad economically. By the numbers he was the best.
