Question: Is this abuse of the question/answer format?

Answer #1:

Yes, I'm sorry to say the violation is correct. 'Ditto' may be a legitimate reply in common parlance, but according to Yahoo Answers rules, it's not a valid answer HERE. At best, you're not providing an answer, at worst you're copying someone else's answer. 'Ditto' falls into the same class of non-answer as 'i don't know' and 'google it'. Answers has specific and unique rules and definitions, and it's important to become familiar with them.
This question has some moments of 'rant' but on the whole is asking a reasonable and valid question, and I don't think that it should be reported as abuse.
Here's a link to the 'Community Moderation Pop Quiz' which contains links to definitions of 'chat', the 'question-and-answer' format, and more - VERY helpful reading. Better luck here in the future!

Answer #2:

Unfortunately & although your intentions were good. It is a violation & technically more than 1 violation but fortunately you can only be charged for one. It is a non answer to the question asked & guidelines state an answer must attempt to answer the question as asked. " ditto" is not an answer from you for the question, it is only reaffirming another members answer which is what you use the Thumbs up to do if you agree with their answer & chose not to actually post your own answer. Your Thumbs up would be your support for that answer. ( if you are level 1 & can not rate yet - give a thumbs up or down - then You can either skip answering completely or write the answer in your own words & then say but AJ explained it best. You then gave an honest attempt to answer.
Your second violation would be what they consider point gaming. just posting anything for " the 2 points" & some would call just putting " ditto" point gaming. since once again you did not give an answer to the question & again technically it is a violation according to the format of the site.
This is a very good site & the guidelines are there for a reason, as well as the thumbs & levels . They are learned & earned. We all have had a violation or 2 when starting out for not understanding exactly how it works.
This question should not be found in anyway a violation of guidelines, so it should not be reported as abuse. The good old days were good for a reason. There was structure. You intentions are understood but yes a little off track, but not so much so with your intelligence that it will be corrected. No this will should not be reported as it falls within the format & guidelines for the use of the site*

Answer #3:

It could be construed as a "rant".

"Abuse of the questions and Answers format" is so ambiguous, Yahoo often use it as an excuse to save having to admit that their system of moderation is a hopeless mess, meaning that perfectly valid questions or answers are removed, and the removal can be upheld on appeal, because nobody knows what the definition of "Abuse of the Questions and Answers format" actually is.

Answer #4:

Violation for point gaming. Posting something for the 2 points and not answering with facts
You even admit it was a comment and not an answer. Suggest you read the community guidelines and take the quiz.
